Legislative Results of Sunset Reviews

To view a summary of the outcome of the Sunset process for each agency, including actions taken by the 88th Legislature, visit the agency's page under Current Reviews. For bills not yet signed by the Governor, the actions are tentative until the veto period has ended on June 18. Sunset will publish the complete record of each review following the veto period.


Over the years, the work of the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission staff has been recognized through the following awards from its peer association, the National Legislative Program Evaluation Society (NLPES).  NLPES is a staff section of the National Conference of State Legislatures. 

Excellence in Evaluation Award.  The Sunset Commission has received this award two times — in 2003 and 2012.  Each year, NLPES presents this award to one legislative evaluation office that has performed extraordinary work and made significant contributions to the field over the previous four years.

Impact Award. Each year, NLPES presents Impact Awards for reports issued by legislative program evaluation offices that document significant public policy impact within a state.  The following Sunset reviews have received Impact Awards in recent years.
