Stacey Combest has been named the Senate public member of the Sunset Advisory Commission.

Stacey Combest Biography

Stacey Combest, J.D., is a dedicated civic leader, legislative strategist, and advocate committed to improving systems of care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She serves as an appointed public member on the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission. In addition, she is a gubernatorial appointee to the Board of Humanities Texas. Previously, Combest served as Chair of the Texas Commission on Special Education Funding, where all 14 legislative recommendations were successfully passed into law; she also served on the Long-Term Care Subcommittee reporting to the Committee for Children with Special Needs. She remains an ongoing educational resource for state legislators to rely on for pro-disability legislation. 

Combest earned her Juris Doctor from UNT Dallas College of Law bringing a strong legal foundation and decades of experience in advocacy and public policy to advance meaningful change across Texas. She is an ADR Certified Mediator and a member of the Texas Association of Mediators. She is blessed with three young adult children (Megan, Andrew, and Aaron) and a wonderful husband (Bill). The Combests reside in Elkins Lake surrounded by the Sam Houston National Forest.
