Historical Notes

Through HB 2292, the 78th Legislature transferred the functions of the Texas Health Care Information Council to the Department of State Health Services (DSHS).  The 83rd Legislature, through HB 1394, directed Sunset to conduct a special review of THCIC in conjunction with the DSHS review.  Through SB 200 and SB 219, the 84th Legislature clarified that THCIC is a program within DSHS and not a separate council.  The program will be reviewed during the next Sunset review of DSHS.

This agency is currently inactive. An agency can be labeled inactive if it has been abolished, had a title change, was merged into a different agency or split into different agencies. See Agency History on the right for further information.
